About the coffee:

This lot went through an in-husk fermentation for up to 24 hours. Anoxic dry-mass fermentation for 72 hours and sun dried in marquesina.

About the producer Diego Agudelo:

Diego Agudelo is the manager of CDNT. CDNT is an association of caficultores in Northern Tolima, that is managed by LaREB. Diego is in charge of procuring coffee from this region. He collects samples, then roasts and cups those samples and decides what to export from this region.

CDNT also runs a nursery with a wide range of varieties like Sidra, Geisha, Tabi, and Rosado. The idea is to give these seedlings away to producers who are interested in planting them.

In Northern Tolima, most farms are planted with Colombia and Castillo. While the altitude and terroir produce a very sweet and clean cup, there’s only so much you can achieve with these washed hybrids. The goal of the nursery is to help bring more value back to the region. If producers can grow something like a washed Rosado instead of a washed Castillo, they don’t need to change their processing—but with the same effort, they can earn more for their parchment.

Diego was one of the first producers in the region to take trees from the nursery and plant them on his farm.

About LaREB:

LaREB (short for La Real Expedición Botánica) is not a traditional green coffee importer or trader, but rather a producer-led coffee collective based in Colombia that actively participates in the coffee supply chain — including export and market access for roasters.
